Toward a Better Understanding of Abuse, Fantasies, and Fiction
Where can we draw the line between reality and fantasy? How do we understand fantasies around taboo topics like abuse? And how can we responsibly share controversial fantasies and stories with others?
This essay-zine discusses the causes and effects of real-world abuse and fantasies of abuse, demonstrating the line between the two without rejecting their entanglement. It encourages a transformative justice approach that supports agency and responsibility when we share and interact with others, and demonstrates how the stigmatization of taboo fantasies, however well-meaning, does more harm than good.
It is 5,717 words, or 30 pages, and should take an average of 20-30 minutes to read.
The narration is 28 minutes long.
NOTE:
